At their March 2015 meeting, the Planning Committee approved the School’s listed building application for consent to make changes to the interior of the Grade I listed building to expand its intake.

Avon Fire and Rescue headquarters occupy a large site between Temple Street and Temple Back. To the Society’s regret, the Planning Committee granted this building planning permission on the Planning Officer’s recommendation.

The site of the former Print Hall in Temple Way is vacant. A proposed scheme would build 270 en suite student rooms with shared catering and amenity spaces

This long derelict eyesore stands on the east side of the Ashley Road and Stokes Croft junction. A developer has applied for planning permission to demolish Westmoreland House and to renovate EW Godwin’s Grade II* listed Carriageworks.

Besides any general migration into the city, the biggest factor in the huge demand for new households is in the way we are living. There are just more of us living much longer.

It makes commercial sense to convert Marlborough House to residential accommodation. 

The conversion to residential use would prevent this prominent unlisted building of merit falling into disuse and decay.

This Grade II listed building has stood empty for some years. The University has applied for listed building consent to enable it to bring the building back into use.

Change Real Estate, a local development partnership propose to develop the land between Redcliff Street and St Thomas Street to construct 117 flats over commercial floor space.

Urban Creation proposes to convert these long empty offices into 80-85 student bedrooms with laundry facilities, common room, bicycle hub and bin store.

The Society fully supports the University’s proposal to create its principal reception area behind the Queen’s Road shop front.

The Council has obtained funding from the Government’s cycling ambition programme to build new cycleways. The Society supports the construction of two new bridges at Camden Road and close to the Banana Bridge.
