Bristol Civic Society runs two prestigious annual award schemes. The Design Awards recognise developments in Bristol which make a positive contribution to the local environment through excellence of design, while the Student Award is presented to a final year student of Architecture and Planning at the University of the West of England for outstanding work.
For many years, the Civic Society has made awards recognising good quality design – buildings and improvements to the public realm. The awards are sponsored by Savills, real estate advisers and planning specialists – for which we are very grateful.
For 2022 awards there were three fundamental criteria: projects were completed in 2020 or 2021; are located within the City of Bristol; and are visible from a public place.
If you have sites in mind for the 2023 Awards, please send nominations by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Ideally, nominations should include both the address of the project and contact details for the owner and/or the project designer/manager. The deadline for nominations is the end of February (and there are already 14 for 2023).
Each year Bristol Civic Society makes an award (a money prize currently of £250) to a final year student of Architecture, Planning and including Environmental Engineering if taken, at the University of the West of England for outstanding work.
