Launch of Purcell report – ‘Towards A Sustainable Future’

Bristol Civic Society is campaigning to secure the renovation and reuse of the Ashton Court Mansion, currently 70% unusable and in a deteriorating state. A major study was commissioned by Bristol City Council in 2012, with support from Historic England, in order to assess the cost of renovation and to explore possible future uses. The study was carried out by a team from Purcell, a leading firm of consultants, led by partner Niall Phillips.

Bristol City Council has requested that the Civic Society host the report on the Society’s own website. A public launch event was held in City Hall on 22nd May.

The report has now been published. Use this link to view or download Ashton Court Mansion – Towards a Sustainable Future (May 2019, PDF)

  1. I have not, as yet, read your Report regarding Ashton Court in full. However, I do have some questions: Now that it is published and a launch event held on 22 May, what happens next? Who makes any decisions? Who can become involved? Will any progress be made, or has been made towards the future of Ashton Court?
