Bristol’s links with the film and TV industries are long-established and strong, both as a characterful locale for a drama (remember Eddie Shoestring?) and as a hub of creativity and enterprise bringing jobs and income to the city.
To tell us more about this latter aspect, we are very pleased to welcome Katherine Nash and Adela Strauhan, from Bristol Film Office and who also manage Bristol’s own film studio, The Bottle Yard.
In their talk, they will give us an overview of Bristol’s film and television sector and its importance to the city, and will touch on, among other things:
- The role of The Bottle Yard Studios in attracting and accommodating film and television productions.
- How Bristol Film Office supports productions through permits, location advice and liaison with communities and council services.
- How filming benefits Bristol through local spending, employment, skills development and opportunities for local businesses.
- Bristol’s work as a UNESCO City of Film, including collaboration and efforts to support more sustainable production.
