A chance to appreciate the design and interior décor of Bristol’s civic headquarters.
Pete Insole, Urban Design Team Manager with Bristol City Council, has very kindly offered to give us a guided tour of City Hall, illuminating its history and its decorative highlights. It will include some of the principal rooms on the first floor of City Hall covering some of the history of the building and its design. As well as visiting the Council Chamber and the Conference Hall, we will, if we can, visit some of the decorative meeting rooms on the first floor. We’ll also have a look at the original circulation spaces on the upper ground floor before visiting the Cash Hall on the ground floor. Along the way we’ll talk about the adaptation of this grade II* listed building that was undertaken in 2018 to accommodate the current council uses.
We have chosen the date and time to minimise the likelihood of the rooms we want to see being in use, but obviously we can’t rule this out, so we ask for your understanding that the itinerary can’t be absolutely guaranteed in advance.
Members will be invited by email to book a place.
