The Civic Society is planning a number of events about how we can build more new homes, but do it in a way which creates great, liveable neighbourhoods.
Kicking this off is a zoom event on March 18 , focussing on the discussion around densification.
Densification: Can we build homes without going too high?
Bristol is popular with people at all ages and stages, from first-year students taking their first steps down Park Street to families who’ve been here for centuries. As Bristol’s population grows and the city densifies, is our liveable city under assault from high-rise development?
How can Bristol simultaneously increase its density and its quality of life? What does “density done well” actually mean? Why is a plan-led approach essential? And how does this all relate to a most peculiar Italian-Japanese marriage?
George Weeks, an expert in planning, urban design and transport in the UK and abroad will guide us through this fascinating but challenging puzzle. Come on a world tour of density done well to find out what this means for Bristol.
Members will be invited to this Zoom event by email.
