st-james-church

A cycle ride to St James’ Church, Cameley, east of Chew Valley Lake. St James’ is an unpretentious and delightful church, which escaped major restoration in Victorian times and remains an unspoilt gem. It was described by Betjeman as ‘Rip Van Winkle’s Church’ – asleep for centuries and virtually untouched.

Date: Sunday 30th March
Start 10:00am at the Arnolfini. After visiting the church, lunch at the nearby Ring O’ Bells, Hinton Blewett (or bring a picnic if preferred.)  Total distance: 30 to 35 miles. Mostly country lanes, with some hills.  Medium pace, with morning drinks stop.
