There will be an unveiling of a Bristol Civic Society blue plaque for Mrs Indira Gandhi at the entrance gate to Badminton School, Westbury Road, Bristol BS9 3BA. The unveiling will be at 3pm on 8th March.
The plaque will be unveiled in the presence of guests of honour Ms Sattaru Ashwini Naidu, Minister at the High Commission of India; Peaches Golding, Lord Lieutenant of Bristol; Kalpna Woolf, the High Sheriff of Bristol and Councillor Henry Michallat, the Lord Mayor of Bristol.
The plaque records that Mrs Indira Gandhi attended Badminton School and served as the Prime Minister of India for four terms, from 1966 to 1977 and again from 1980 to 1984.
The unveiling ceremony will be visible from the public highway, but care must be taken with the busy adjoining main road, particularly as we expect that a large number of people will be attending.
PLEASE NOTE: While Civic Society members are welcome to attend and view the unveiling from the public area, nobody must enter the school grounds without a personal invitation.
