Fashions in architecture fall into and out of favour, and it’s often the work of earlier centuries that is revered at the expense of more modern styles. Bristol’s townscape offers a rich mixture of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly from across the ages, and some of the more recent buildings do deserve a closer look. Here’s an opportunity to consider some of the more notable, possibly controversial, structures erected over the last 125 years.
Andrew Eberlin and Elliott Sargent, co-founders of the Bristol Modernist Society, will take us on a photographic tour of the city’s finest 20th century buildings. Starting with the Grade II* listed Everards Print Works and ending with Aztec West, you will see a range of styles including Art Deco, mid-century modernism, Brutalism, High-Tech and Post-Modernism.
