Unveiling of Maurice Rogers blue plaque: 26th April 2023

There will be a dedication of a Bristol Civic Society blue plaque on the 26th of April at 12 noon at 39 Brighton Road, Redland Bristol BS6 6NU.

The plaque commemorates Maurice Albert Windham Rogers, born in Bristol, and posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for outstanding gallantry in Italy during the Second World War.

The dedication will be visible from the pavement, but please note that the it is fairly narrow and people congregating need to be careful of both traffic and pedestrians passing by. The plaque is on a private home and viewers should not enter the garden.

A full report will be published on the BCS website and in a future edition of Better Bristol.

After the dedication, there will be an informal gathering at ‘Boston Tea Party’, St Johns Court, Whiteladies Road BS8 2QY, where drinks and snacks can be purchased.
