The Civic Society welcomes and supports these proposals. The Society has followed the development of these proposals and has had the benefit of a conducted visit to the Albion Dockyard and of a full explanation of the development proposals.
There will be considerable heritage advantages in terms of delivering permanent control, management and maintenance of the Albion Dry Dock (Listed Grade II). However, we are pleased to see that Brunel’s Other Bridge – the Swivel Bridge (Listed II*) – is now not part of the design and that it will remain in its original location.
