Glenside Hospital Museum: 26th November 2025

Glenside Hospital Museum is frequently described by visitors as a ‘hidden gem’. The collection uncovers the birth of psychiatry and the evolution of mental health care. In this illustrated talk, Consultant Director, Stella Man, will explain how objects, photographs and art in the museum are used to explore the complexities of mental illness. She will show how this unique and nationally significant community asset provides opportunities for people to consider their own health and wellbeing and how the collection is used to contribute to our present and our future. She will also talk about what may lie ahead for the museum and its collection.

The event is held at The Friends’ Meeting House, Hampton Road, Redland, BS6 6JE. Free tea/coffee will be available from 7pm before a 7.30pm start.

Members will be invited by email to book a place.
