Ashton Court Mansion Zoom discussion: 2nd July 2025

The future of Ashton Court Mansion has been debated for as long as the City Council has owned the estate. The Council has recently commissioned some work to find out who is interested in taking on this wonderful building. At this event we will receive an update from the Council, hear about a proposition from the Bristol Historic Buildings Preservation Trust, and some thoughts from Artspace Lifespace and the Friends of Ashton Court Mansion. We are bringing together these and a number of other speakers in a discussion session, to be chaired by our Chair, Sandra Fryer.

Subject to confirmation, the line up is expected to include:

  • Pete Anderson Director, Property, Assets and Infrastructure, Bristol City Council
  • Simon Cook MBE, Chair of Bristol Historic Buildings, Alderman and Burgess of the City and County of Bristol, Honorary Doctor of Letters, University of Bristol
  • Norman Routledge, CEO, Bristol Historic Buildings
  • Kathryn Chiswell Jones, CEO Artspace Lifespace (current occupiers of the main building)
  • Tish O’Connor, Friends of Ashton Court Mansion
  • George Ferguson CBE, PPRIBA, Architect, Chair of Royal West of England Academy, former Mayor of Bristol

Members will be invited by email to book a place for this Zoom event.
