Crofton Gane blue plaque
On Saturday, 16th October 2021, a blue plaque was unveiled at 38-42 College Green, to celebrate the life of Crofton Gane, 1878-1967, whose business stood on the site of the present building.
Theresa Garnett – suffragette imprisoned in Horfield
Our 31st blue plaque is the first blue plaque to be installed on a working prison in the UK. Placed on the Old Main Gate to Horfield Prison, it recognises Theresa Garnett, a suffragette who was imprisoned there in 1909.
Mary Fedden, OBE
On Wednesday, 22 September a blue plaque was unveiled at 52 Downs Park East, Westbury Park, the childhood home of the artist, Mary Fedden, OBE. She lived there from her birth year, 1915 until 1920.
Professor Andrew Keller FRS
On 23rd August, a blue plaque was unveiled at 41 Westbury Road, Westbury-on-Trym celebrating Hungarian-born polymer scientist Professor Andrew Keller FRS, who lived there for more than 30 years.
A visionary headmistress is honoured
A blue plaque to Eleanor Addison Phillips has been unveiled outside the Reception Office of Clifton High School. It has been supported by Bristol Soroptimists, the Rotary Club of Bristol and Clifton High School.
Sturge Sisters blue plaque
A blue plaque celebrating the lives of Emily and Elizabeth Sturge will be unveiled on 21st June 2021 at the former Redland High School.
Remembering William Friese-Greene
Members from Bristol’s film community gathered on 5th May 2021 in remembrance of Bristolian motion-picture pioneer William Friese-Greene, on the 100th anniversary of his death on 5th May 1921.

On Wednesday, 20 November 2019 the Right Honourable Lord Mayor, Councillor Jos Clark unveiled a blue plaque at Badminton School to celebrate the writer and philosopher Dame Iris Murdoch.
