A Bristol Miscellany: 7th March 2023

‘A Search for the Soul of the City’, a talk by Mike Manson, on Tues 7 March at 7.30, in the Friends’ Meeting Room, Hampton Road, Redland.

How much do you know about Bristol? Why does it look the way it looks? What secrets do its streets hide? What stories could its buildings tell if they had a voice? Mike dips into his treasure trove of tales from the city’s diverse history, as recounted in his two volumes of A Bristol Miscellany: the trivial and the significant, the amusing and the shocking, but always diverting.

Michael Manson is a well-known local author, of both fiction and non-fiction, and is the editor of the Civic Society’s Better Bristol magazine. He will talk about how he wrote the Bristol Miscellany and give tips to any aspiring local historians.

He will have copies of both volumes of A Bristol Miscellany for sale, at the discounted price of £15.

Tickets £5, bookable through an email to be sent out to members nearer the time.
