Lost Rivers of Bristol: 19 November 2019

… and Bristol Flood risk management

An illustrated talk by Melvin Wood, Environment Agency – back by popular demand.

Tuesday 19th November 2019 – time and venue to be sorted.

Bristol was built on good river systems in order to develop trade and to provide power for milling all across the city. Those rivers have gradually and steadily been built over and effectively ‘lost.’ However they are still there and their associated flood risk needs to be assessed and prepared for if Bristol is to be a resilient city for the next 100 years.

This talk will look at the rivers systems across the city and provide an overview of the flood defence systems which reduce flood risk across the city.
