Have fun helping Bristol to have fun

alt

National Civic Day on 25th June is about celebrating the city where you live. Click here for details.

Our theme in Bristol is to celebrate our public spaces. We plan, amongst other things, a big “Teddy Bears Picnic” event in the “Bear Pit” at St James Barton Roundabout and wherever you are in Bristol to make the day a mass participation event using digital media (mobile phones, Facebook, Twitter etc) to enable the general public to send messages, photos, videos and pinpoint their location from other public spaces in Bristol but we need your help. Our hope is to display an online interactive map showing activity across the city, on a screen in the Bear Pit, and if possible the big screen in Millenium Square.  We hope to come up with something that will catch the imagination of everyone in Bristol.

We are currently exploring ideas with Bristol Dorkbot, who are willing to help us to make it happen. We need a small group of volunteers to work with them and realise the concept, we especially need a volunteer with the technical knowledge to create an interactive online map of Bristol.

Would you like to be involved, or do you know someone who might? Some knowledge of digital media technology would be useful, but not necessary. The main thing is enthusiasm and a little of your  time. We hope to have an initial brainstorming session with Dorkbot before the end of March.
